NHIAA Roundup: Memorial skaters pull away from Guertin

Kyle Broussard scored in the second minute of the game, but host Manchester Memorial didn't pull away for a 4-1 victory until third-period goals by Ethan Pollock and Colin Williamson at JFK Coliseum on Wednesday night. Bishop Guertin's Chris Lovell tied the game with a goal in the second period, and Memorial (14-3) regained the lead with a tally by Pollock in the third. Winning goalie Joshua Jacob made 19 saves, while BG goalie Griffin Scanlon stopped 27 shots. The Cardinals dropped to 8-8-1.

St. Thomas 4, Trinity 1: At Dover, the host Saints took control with second-period goals by T.J. Boulanger, Hayden Middleton and Glenn Wiswell. Trinity's Kyle Valliere scored in the first period, but the Crusaders couldn't beat goalie Zane Angelopoulos (24 saves) for the rest of the night. Ryan Slatky had 24 saves from Trinity, which dropped to 11-5-1. The Saints moved to 12-5-1.

Manchester Central 7, Exeter 2: The Little Green scored five goals in the first period as this game at The Rinks at Exeter on Wednesday was never in doubt. Colin Pacheco scored two of the five goals, with Tyler Stratton, Trevor Malmgren and Tim Tetrault also finding the net. Austin Sprague and Ross Lougee scored third-period markers for Central (13-4).

Ty Mezquita and Cam Johansson scored for Exeter (4-11-1). The Little Green have a huge matchup Saturday with city rival Memorial (14-3).

Salem 5, Londonderry 4: At Salem, Jake Pappalardo scored two goals in the third period, and the Blue Devils won a back-and-forth contest in Division I on Tuesday. Salem (9-2-1) trailed by a goal entering the final period and blanked the Lancers (7-4-1) for the 15 minutes. Salem goalie Nick Phair made 18 saves, while Lancers netminder Joe McGrath made 22.

Boys' basketball

Littleton 47, Profile 38: At Littleton, Nick Whipple had 16 points, and the Crusaders closed out the regular season with an impressive home win against Profile of Bethlehem on Wednesday night. Whipple, Owen Stone and Cody Verret all hit threes as the Crusaders improved to 17-1. Zach Burns had 16 points to lead the Patriots, who fell to 14-4.

Gorham 54, Woodsville 43: At Gorham, Kyle Boisselle scored a game-high 18 points and Sam Jensen had 14 points as the Huskies 7-11) handled Woodsville. Tom D'Angelo scored 17 points, and Kevin Briggs had 13 for the Engineers (4-14).
