Two men indicted on drug charges
BRENTWOOD — Two Salem men have been indicted on felony drug charges after being pulled over for a traffic violation back in March.
Philip Wetmore, 22, of and Matthew Hemmerdinger, 19, both of Salem, each face a felony count of possession of a controlled drug, according to prosecutors.
The two were riding in a car in the area of Millville Street on March 31 that was pulled over by Salem police because it had a suspended registration.
Police allegedly found a small quantity of oxycodone and an amphetamine on the two men.
The driver of the car was also summonsed for operating after revocation and having a suspended registration, police said.
Wetmore and Hemmerdinger are facing felony charges that could land them in state prison. Wetmore could face 7½ to 15 years in state prison on the amphetamine charge. Hemmerdinger faces up to 3½ to 7 years in state prison for allegedly being in possession of Oxycodone.
Hemmerdinger is being held at the Rockingham County jail and is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday in Rockingham County Superior Court. Wetmore is free on bail.
