Manchester man, 19, was victim of fatal Goffstown motorcycle crash
GOFFSTOWN – A Manchester teenager who had graduated from West High School two months ago died in a motorcycle crash on Mountain Road Monday afternoon.
Police identified the victim as Neal Burlington, 19. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which involved two motorcycles and a car, Goffstown police said.
An multi-year honor roll student at West High School, Burlington loved motorcycles and motocross, said Principal MaryEllen McGorry.
His penchant for two-wheeled transportation included a bicycle, which he rode to school before he got his motorcycle.
“He parked his bike in my office every day, so no one would steal it,” McGorry said. “He'd say 'Ms. McGorry, can I park my bike here?'”
“He was a real pleasant kid. He had a hi for everybody, a comment for everybody,” she said. She said Burlington maintained his honor-roll status by a lot of hard work and support from faculty and his family.
According to police, Burlington was traveling northeast on his motorcycle alongside 19-year-old Justin Chagnon, also of Manchester. They were behind a third motorcycle when the two motorcycles touched.
“Both motorcycles went down almost simultaneously,” said Goffstown Police Capt. Robert Browne.
Burlington's motorcycle crossed the center line, and he made contact with an oncoming vehicle driven by Christine Pierson of New Boston.
Chagnon's motorcycle went across the center line and crashed into a telephone pole, Browne said. He was transported by DHART helicopter to Boston Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
A Boston Medical Center spokesman described Chagnon's condition as stable but would not release further details.
No charges are pending against Pierson, who attempted to stop her vehicle to avoid the crash.
“She was taking evasive maneuvers to avoid a collision,” Browne said.
Burlington's Facebook page shows a young man posing with a motocross bike, as well as pictures of a four-wheeler and a red, street-legal Kawasaki.
“I'm a pretty chill kid, I know I have lots to learn but that's not going to stop me from being me,” he wrote about himself.
The page of his mother, Sheree Burlington of Manchester, included messages of condolences.
