BOSTON -- Adrian Beltre drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly in the ninth and Josh Hamilton finished a double shy of the cycle with four RBIs on Wednesday afternoon as the Texas Rangers outlasted the Boston Red Sox, 10-9. to take the rubber game of their three-game series.
Geovany Soto hit a two-run homer and Nelson Cruz and Mitch Moreland each added a solo blast for the Rangers, who crushed Josh Beckett en route to their sixth win in eight games.
Clayton Mortensen (1-1) walked Elvis Andrus leading off the top of the ninth and surrendered a single to Hamilton, sending Andrus to third. The Red Sox went to closer Alfredo Aceves, who allowed a deep drive to the warning track in center field by Beltre, easily plating Andrus for a 10-9 lead.
Alexi Ogando (2-0) worked two perfect innings to earn the win in relief and Joe Nathan pitched the ninth for his 23rd save.
The Rangers led 9-5 after Cruz's homer in the seventh inning but the Red Sox fought back to tie it in the bottom of that frame. Adrian Gonzalez's third double and third RBI cut it to 9-6 and Roy Oswalt walked Cody Ross to bring the tying run to the plate.
Oswalt then left a pitch up to Will Middlebrooks, who crushed it off a billboard over the "Green Monster" for his 15th home run, knotting it at 9-9.
Texas had taken the lead by pounding Beckett for eight runs on eight hits in five-plus innings. The embattled right-hander was ripped for three home runs after not allowing a ball to leave the yard in any of his previous 12 starts.
Hamilton did most of the damage, highlighting a three-run rally in the first with a two-run triple and bringing his season RBI total to 95 with a two-run homer in the fifth - his 30th blast. Hamilton nearly had extra bases again in the seventh but Jacoby Ellsbury made a leaping catch up against the wall in deep center.
