Body recovered from Exeter River

EXETER — An autopsy is being performed Wednesday on the body of a man found floating in the Exeter River.

Police were called at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday after the body was discovered in the water behind a campsite at the Exeter Elms Campground.

The medical examiner responded to the scene, and police detectives, who canvassed the area, are conducting an investigation into the death.

The body was removed and transported to Concord Hospital, where an autopsy will be performed in an attempt to determine the cause of death.

Police withheld the man's name, pending notification of family members.
