NH fifth nationally in use of electronic prescriptions
New Hampshire rose to fifth place nationally for electronic prescription use in a survey released Tuesday by Surescripts, a national ePrescribing network.
Nearly 94 percent of New Hampshire pharmacies and 86 percent of office-based health-care providers use electronic prescriptions, compared to 58 percent nationally, according to Surescripts.
"The success of the ePrescribing program in New Hampshire is the result of a collaborative effort that involved the participation of prescribers, pharmacies, insurers, employers, legislators, Gov. John Lynch, and technology partners," Patrick Miller, senior staff, New Hampshire Citizens Health Initiative, said in a statement.
New Hampshire Citizens Health Initiative said it led efforts to increase ePrescribing beginning in 2006
Minnesota rose to No. 1 in the Surescripts survey, bumping Massachusetts, which was at the top for several years.
