MANCHESTER — The Palace Theatre has been selected as the 2012 Outstanding Historic Theatre by the League of Historic American Theatres.

“Personally, I have been thrilled to show our audiences the production value we have achieved to date, both artistically and technically,” said Palace Theatre Artistic Director Carl Rajotte. “I am so proud of what we have accomplished and I am thrilled that the League of Historic American Theatres has seen fit to recognize those accomplishments.”

The award celebrates excellence in recognizing the preservation, restoration and sustainable operation of historic theaters throughout North America.

“The Palace Theatre is honored to receive this award on behalf of the Board of Trustees, staff, volunteers, and stakeholders of the non-profit Palace Theatre and we are thrilled to have been selected for this award,” said Peter Ramsey, Palace president. “We sincerely thank the league and the patrons, donors, sponsors, children and teens that the Palace Theatre serves every day. It is truly an honor to be acknowledged.”

The award recognizes that the Palace demonstrated excellence through its significant community impact, quality of programs and services and quality of the restoration or rehabilitation of its historic structure.

The Palace is a Manchester landmark that has stood for almost 100 years, withstanding flood, fire and economic draught.

The Palace has been restored and is now professional performing arts center that serves as a cornerstone of New Hampshire’s thriving arts and entertainment scene. Built in 1914, the Palace is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
