CONCORD — A year to the day after he robbed the TD Bank on Court Street in Keene, Daniel Mark Lavalley was sentenced to 12½ years in federal prison to be followed by three years of supervised release.

Lavalley, 30, formerly of Swanzey, pleaded guilty April 4 in U.S. District Court.

Lavalley entered TD Bank at approximately 10:45 a.m. on July 11, 2011. He handed a teller a note demanding money and saying no one would get hurt if the teller cooperated.

The teller handed over some currency and Lavalley left the bank on foot. Law enforcement personnel compared images from bank security footage and surveillance video from nearby convenience stores with images of Lavalley. A relative of Lavalley positively identified him from the bank images.

Lavalley was arrested by Massachusetts police four days after the robbery at a Motel 6 in Deerfield, Mass.

He was charged in Massachusetts as a fugitive from justice for violating his parole and with possession of heroin and possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute.

He was returned to New Hampshire to face the bank robbery charge.

The case was investigated by the Keene Police Department and prosecuted by First Assistant U.S. Attorney Donald Feith, with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
