Police: Maintenance man stole jewelry from elderly at retirement complex
MANCHESTER - A former maintenance man at a local retirement complex is accused of stealing a large amount of jewelry from the elderly residents.
Police obtained an arrest warrant for Jeffrey Cecchetti, 24, and is asking for help from the public in finding him. He has been sighted on the city's West Side on Granite Street and near Putnam and Douglas streets.
Cecchetti is accused of taking jewelry from residents of Birch Hill Retirement Community, 200 Alliance Way, when he was a maintenance worker there. Detectives learned that Cecchetti allegedly sold several of the stolen items at a local pawn shop.
Police obtained warrants for his arrest on charges of theft by unauthorized taking; receiving stolen property, three counts, and theft by deception.
Cecchetti is described as a white man, 5-foot-10, weighing 130 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
