Raising money for soldiers goal of Operation: Thank You!
PORTSMOUTH — The Meat House’s ninth annual Operation: Thank You! will take place on Sunday, July 29, at the Redhook Brewery at Pease International Tradeport.
It is the largest military appreciation event in New England and serves as a fundraiser for the New Hampshire Air National Guard’s Chaplain’s Emergency Relief Fund.
CERF provides quick financial help for military members and their families during financial hardship and unforeseeable events.
Since its inception in 2004, Operation: Thank You! has raised more than $100,000 for military personnel living or stationed in New Hampshire.
This year, event officials expect to see attendance surge above 4,000 people and hope to raise $25,000 for CERF.
The Meat House gained support from Service Credit Union this year. The local bank, which has its roots at Pease Air Force Base and is a longtime supporter of the military, pledged $10,000 to become the event’s title sponsor.
“We are proud to sponsor Operation: Thank You! at Pease, where Service Credit Union first began,” Gordon Simmons, president and CEO of Service Credit Union said. “We have a storied history of supporting the military here and overseas. We are pleased to be part of this outstanding event in support of our military.”
In 2011, The Meat House’s eighth annual Operation: Thank You! attracted more than 4,500 military personnel, their family members and supporters who were treated to a day highlighted by an all-you-can-eat barbecue catered by The Meat House, live musical performances, children’s activities, a BMX stunt show and a special address from Dr. Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden.
“Giving back to the military remains core to our brand philosophy and to Jason and I personally,” Justin Rosberg, founding partner of The Meat House, said. “Operation: Thank You! is an opportunity to come together as a community and raise awareness and financial support for the men and women serving our country. We are honored to team up with Service Credit Union and Redhook Brewery to help us continue the commitment we made nine years ago.”
