Loeb School plans workshop for teachers on Constitution

The Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications is proud to present “The Constitution for Teachers,” a half-day workshop to examine the law of the land.

The workshop will be held at the school in Manchester from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Aug. 8. It is designed to provide curriculum ideas and discussion points for teachers and school media advisers. Registration is $30. Register at www.loebschool.org or by calling 627-0005.

The workshop will be led by Attorney Gregory V. Sullivan, who has argued before the New Hampshire Supreme Court in several landmark First Amendment and public access cases.

The session is supported by New Hampshire's Constitution Day program, which includes nine newspapers. It will provide teachers with information and curriculum ideas for general studies on the Constitution and help prepare students for next fall's statewide Constitution Day lessons and essay contest.

Sullivan will explore the Bill of Rights and the five freedoms granted in the First Amendment. The session also will cover how the three branches of the federal government interact with each other, with the 50 states and with the Constitutional rights of Americans.

Sullivan is president of Malloy & Sullivan, Lawyers Professional Corporation, a law firm with offices in Manchester and Hingham, Mass. He teaches First Amendment law at Suffolk University and the Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications and is corporate counsel for the New Hampshire Union Leader. Sullivan also serves as special assistant attorney general for Massachusetts.
