Pelham Senior Center celebrates the strawberry
PELHAM — Strawberry season was ushered in at the senior center's annual strawberry festival on Saturday.
Community members of all ages are welcome to attend the event and enjoy some traditional New England fun.
“Once you come, you have to come every year,” said Grace Briggs. “They do a great job.”
The event is a great place to meet up with friends and neighbors, Briggs said. Lunch was offered along with the promise of strawberry shortcake for dessert.
“You can't beat the price,” Briggs said.
Leo Perry said he likes to come out every year to enjoy a meal and support the senior center.
Sophia Lupoli, 10, was enjoying hot dogs with her siblings Nicholas, 5, and Celia, 8.
“We love it,” Lupoli said.
Games, a bounce house and balloon animals were also available for the children.
Some guests chose a picnic style lunch outside while others opted to stay indoors. A few were enticed to the dance floor by their favorite tunes from years gone by.
Over 200 servings of homemade strawberry shortcake were prepared by volunteers.
