HANOVER — Trumbull-Nelson Construction Company, Inc., of Hanover, recently appointed Paul Stokarski, of Springfield, Vt., to the position of human resource manager.
Prior to joining Trumbull-Nelson, Stokarski was regional supervisor of human resources for Stantec and also served as manager of human resources for Dufresne-Henry, Inc. in North Springfield, Vt. He has been a certified human resources professional since 2002. He also served as the Society of Human Resources Foundation chair in the River Valley Human Resource Association and has been active on the Vermont State Council.
MEREDITH — The New Hampshire Dental Society Foundation recently honored Dr. John P. Ahern with the Charles Lambrukos Award. The award is given to an individual who goes beyond the ordinary to provide service to the local community.
Ahern was a member of the original stakeholders group who developed the 1993 pilot for a school dental program in Derry and Londonderry, funded by the Alexander Eastman Foundation. Dr. Ahern was one of the original supervising dentists for the program.
Now called Children's Dental Network, Dr. Ahern has been a vocal advocate, advisor, and volunteer for the program since its inception.
CONCORD — HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Concord has recognized Lisa Roy as the 2012 Licensed Nursing Assistant of the Year.
“Lisa is a role model for her peers, taking extra care to identify and eliminate risks for her patients in order to provide for a safe patient experience.” said Joseph Adamski, director of nursing at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital. “She is respectful and considerate of her patient's preferences when delivering care. She demonstrates a caring attitude toward her patients and their families.”
She represented the hospital on June 13 at the 13th annual NH Licensed Nursing Assistant Day at the State House in Concord.
CONCORD — Public health pioneer Mary Vallier-Kaplan has been awarded the Roger Fossum Award for Lifetime Achievement in Public Health.
Kaplan, a Peterborough resident and interim president at the Endowment for Health, has more than 25 years of professional expertise in public and community health issues in New Hampshire.
She introduced New Hampshire to its first community-based hospice as one of the founders of the Community Hospice of Greater Nashua and later was instrumental in the creation of its residential hospice house.
Kaplan started her career as a public health nurse where she walked the streets of Roxbury, Mass., providing health education to vulnerable populations. She also served as a school nurse and as a provider at Roxbury Comprehensive Health Center, one of Boston's first community health centers.
