Teenager MacGibbon wins Goffstown Gallop
Andy MacGibbon, a junior at Goffstown High, posted a 29:51 to easily outdistance the field and win the 33rd annual David French Goffstown Gallop in Goffstown Saturday.
MacGibbon, 16, who runs cross country for the Grizzlies, was the only runner to complete the 5.2 mile course in under 30 minutes. He improved upon his 2011, fifth-place time of 31:40 by nearly two minutes.
His closest rival, Peter Boisvert, 37, also of Goffstown, earned the silver medal in 32:05.
Heading the women’s field for the second consecutive year was Manchester’s Stephanie Burnham, 31, with a time of 32:46. She was the seventh finisher overall and edged runner-up Deborah Slason (33:19) by just over a half minute. Slason, 38, of Goffstown, crossed the tape ninth.
The two finished 1-2 last year as well.
