Bernstein Shur lawyer eyes airline court fees

MANCHESTER — Robert J. Keach, co-chair of Portland, Maine-based Bernstein Shur's Business Reorganization and Insolvency Practice Group, was named fee examiner for the Chapter 11 cases of AMR Corp. and its affiliated debtors.

In the first round of interim fee applications, 25 firms are seeking approval for more than $68 million in fees and expenses in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of New York.

Judge Sean H. Lane is presiding over the bankruptcy of AMR Corp., parent of American Airlines.

As fee examiner, Keach will review and advise the court and the parties regarding interim and final fee applications for compensation and/or reimbursement for more than 30 court-approved professional firms retained by the debtors and the statutory committees.

Keach also will file and prosecute objections to those applications as appropriate.

Bernstein Shur is a multi-service firm with more than 100 attorneys in offices in Maine and New Hampshire.
