United Way event aims at young NH philanthropists

MANCHESTER — Granite United Way’s Emerging Leaders Society (ELS) will hold a networking event, “A Night at the Ballpark with ELS,” this week to introduce young professionals with an interest in philanthropy and service.

The group will gather for an hour of networking and socializing Wednesday at the Strange Brew Tavern in Manchester beginning at 5:30 p.m., then move to Northeast Delta Dental Stadium to watch the New Hampshire Fisher Cats face the Reading Phillies at 7 p.m.

The event is sponsored by the Manchester Police Patrolman’s Association.

Through this initiative, United Way is looking to introduce, engage and educate the next generation of donors to United Way’s work and philanthropy.

It will offer interactive professional networking events, hands-on volunteering opportunities and innovative leadership trainings geared toward up-and-coming young professionals and philanthropists in the Manchester area.

“This is another exciting opportunity for young philanthropic professionals in the community to join forces and collaborate to strengthen our community,” said Jessica Soucy, a co-chair for the event.

Members of ELS are 20 to 40 years of age and work in diverse fields at a variety of companies and organizations. Individuals who give a minimum of $156 and 12 hours of volunteer time annually to Granite United Way will also enjoy added benefits and access to exclusive events throughout the year.

Tickets can be reserved by calling ww625.6939, Ext. 112 or by emailing elizabeth.bonin@graniteuw.org.

Tickets are $8 each. For an additional $4, one can also purchase a voucher good for a hot dog, bag of chips and a soft drink at the ballpark.
