NHIAA tennis: Boys', girls' doubles finals set for today
The NHIAA boys’ and girls’ doubles tennis tournament has reached the semifinal and final rounds which will be staged today at 3 p.m. at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester.
Top-seeded Harrison Max and Matt McKinney of Londonderry will meet Pelham’s fourth-seeded team of Matt Smith and Jared Taylor, while second-ranked Greg Cistulli and Peter Rouvalis of Concord square off against Bedford’s Mark HoSang and McKinley Grimes, seeded third, with the finals to follow.
HoSang and Myles Utell, who graduated last year, won the 2011 doubles crown.
Max, Rouvalis, HoSang and Grimes each qualified for the semifinals in the singles tournament.
HoSang defeated Rouvalis in the semifinals and beat Max 6-0, 5-7 (10-2 tiebreaker) to defend his title at Derryfield School in Manchester last week.
On the girls’ side, four-time singles champion Julia Keenan and teammate Anna Hayes are the defending champions who have qualified for the semifinals. They will face the Bishop Guertin duo of Jennifer Dai and Elizabeth DiCesare.
In the other semifinal bracket, Brianna Leonard and Lauren Hayward of Bishop Guertin will meet Camille Hankel and Maddie Dewhirst of Hanover.
