Senate District 16:

Republican Boutin announces bid for third term in state Senate

State Sen. David Boutin

HOOKSETT -- State Sen. David Boutin, R-Hooksett, announced Monday he will seek a third term, promising to “continue to be a strong voice for the citizens of District 16 and the people of New Hampshire.”

District 16 includes Hooksett, Candia, Bow and Dunbarton, as well as Manchester's Wards 1, 2 and 12.

Boutin said that in 2010, “voters sent a very clear message: restore our core New Hampshire values of low spending, low taxes and smaller government.”

He said the Senate, dominated by Republicans, “heeded the voters message. Spending was reduced by 10 percent without new or increased taxes or fees; and, the budget was balanced for the first time in over six years.

“The job killing LLC tax, the 10 percent gambling tax, and that odious $30 fee surcharge on car registrations were all repealed,” Boutin said.

“I know that I can continue to be a strong voice for hard working families and small businesses who are struggling to hang on during these difficult economic times, " said Boutin. "I pledge that I will vigorously continue to fight for legislative and fiscal policy that encourages a favorable economic environment, promotes economic growth, and gets our unemployed friends and neighbors back to work.”

Boutin also again pledged to oppose a broad-based tax.
