The girls take center stage today as three NHIAA state tennis team titles are scheduled to be contested at 4 p.m.

Bedford High will be hosting the Division I final between unbeaten and defending state champion Bishop Guertin of Nashua (16-0) and second-seeded Derryfield School (15-1) of Manchester.

In the season opener for both teams on April 9, the Cardinals handed the Cougars a 6-2 setback. Bishop Guertin has won seven state titles and two runner-up plaques. Derryfield, making its first appearance in the Division I finals, has won seven state titles and six runner-up crowns.

The Cardinals defeated No. 8 seed Nashua South, 7-2, in the quarterfinals and fourth-seeded Londonderry, 6-2 to reach the finals. Bishop Guertin has won the last two Division I state finals, beating Londonderry, 5-4, last year and Manchester Central in 2010 by the same score.

The Cougars defeated No. 7 seed Keene, 8-1, in the quarterfinals and No. 3 Exeter, 5-4, in the semifinals. The Cougars have received stellar play this season from Colbi Vaillancourt, Berklee Vaillancourt, Brittany Potter, Maxine Joselow and Taylor Shomo.

Bishop Guertin will counter with Brianna Leonard, Jennifer Dai, Lauren Hayward, Liz DiCesare, Allison Murphy and Mary Cunningham.

The Division II final features top-ranked Hanover (15-0) against second-ranked St. Thomas Aquinas (15-1) of Dover at Derryfield School in Manchester. The teams did not meet during the regular season.

Hanover reached the final by beating No. 8 Hollis/Brookline, 9-0, in the quarterfinals and No. 5 seed Portsmouth, 9-0, in the semifinals. The Saints eliminated No. 7 Trinity of Manchester, 8-0, in the quarterfinals and defending state champion Bedford, the third seed, 6-3.

Hanover has won two state titles, in 2005 and 2007, and six runner-up crowns. The Saints have won two of the last four state titles, in 2008 and 2010, and were runners-up in 2007.

The Saints are led by three-time NHIAA girls' singles champion Julia Keenan while the Marauders will counter with Camille Henkel and Maddie Dewhirst.

The Division III final pits defending state champion and third-seed Bow (13-2) against top-ranked Profile (14-1) of Bethlehem at Pinkerton Academy of Derry. The teams didn't meet during the regular season.

Bow defeated Berlin, 7-2, for the state crown last year, giving the Falcons three overall state championships. Bow also has two runner-up titles, in 1999 and 2000.
