Awning burns at Nashua jewelry store
NASHUA - Fire officials are investigating the cause of an unusual blaze early Tuesday morning at a downtown business.
Crews were called to a reported building fire around 3:11 a.m. at Scontsas Fine Jewelry and Home Decor, 169 Main St.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered an exterior awning that was burning.
“The companies got at it right away,” said assistant chief Steven Galipeau, adding the fire was knocked down quickly and there was no damage to the interior of the building.
The fabric awning was destroyed, but Galipeau said the exterior structure of the business was not impacted by the blaze.
“There has been no determination as far as a cause,” he said, explaining it is still under investigation. The fire had not been deemed suspicious as of Tuesday afternoon.
No one was injured in the incident, according to fire personnel.
