H.S. Sports Roundup: Londonderry, Bedford gain boys' tennis finals
Until 2010, the Londonderry boys' tennis team never won a team tennis title. The Lancers are now on the verge of winning their second crown in three seasons.
Harrison Max upended Marko Ludlow, 8-1, in the No. 1 singles match as the undefeated Lancers upended No. 4 seeded Keene, 7-2, in the semifinals of the Division I tournament in Londonderry Thursday. The 16-0 Lancers, who trounced Timberlane of Plaistow 9-0 in the quarterfinals, advanced to Tuesday's 4 p.m. championship match against Exeter at Bedford High.
Max teamed up with Matt McKinney to win their doubles' match, an 8-3 decision over Ludlow and Reilly Hay.
Keene was led by Dan Idelkope, an 8-4 winner against Ryan Broderick in the No. 4 singles and Tim Manwaring, an 8-2 winner over Nick Beaton in the No. 6 singles.
Tim Court of Londonderry won the No. 2 singles, 8-6, against Hay.
