Monadnock Music seeking to match $50,000 challenge

PETERBOROUGH — Monadnock Music has been awarded an anonymous $40,000 matching grant for enhanced programming in 2012.

The organization, which has put on a summer music festival for the past 46 years. has until the end of July to raise the funds, Monadnock Music said in a press release Monday.

The festival has already raised $15,000, including a $5,000 gift from the Merrill Family Charitable Foundation, Inc.

The $40,000 is to be used to fund a 5-year strategic plan that will take the festival through the 50th anniversary season in 2016, Monadnock Music said.

Plans to launch a record label are also in the works, starting this summer with a grant from the Virgil Thomson Foundation to perform and record the chamber music of the American composer.

The 2012 season marks the debut of new Artistic Director Gil Rose.
