House approves measure aimed at quelling voter fraud
CONCORD – The House Wednesday voted 248-101 to make a voter's residence the same for all other legal pruposes such as registering a car of to obtain a driver's license.
Supporters say HB 1354 will simply and clarify the law so that a person who votes in the state has to be a resident of the state.
However, opponents said the bill would have wide-reaching unintended consequences and is aimed at suppressing voting by college students, the elderly and members of the military.
The bill now goes to the Senate.
