Stop & Shop robbed by man wearing eye patch
MANCHESTER - Police are searching for a man with an eye patch who robbed Shop & Save on South Willow Street Sunday afternoon.
Police said the man, who had a gauze-type patch over his right eye, approached the service desk about 3:40 p.m. and handed the clerk a typed note which said he had a gun and warned the employee to comply with his detailed instructions for cash.
The clerk took some cash, put it in a plastic Stop & Shop bag and handed it to the robber who ran out of the store. He returned moments later, however, to retrieve the note he left behind.
Police released a photo of the man taken by the store's surveillance camera.
The robber is described as a white man with light skin and freckles, about 5-foot-8 with a heavy or thick build. He was last seen wearing an open, long-sleeve blue shirt over a maroon T-shirt. He wore light-colored pants and a brown knit hat.
