Police look for guns lost along Route 28
SALEM — Police are looking for a case of guns that was lost on Route 28 between Windham and Salem.
A man reportedly told police on Jan. 29 that he lost a case containing four handguns in town, according to Deputy Chief Shawn Patten of the Salem Police. The man reportedly told police that the case was in the back of his truck and he might have left the tailgate down when he left the area of Lamplighter Village Road in Windham, Patten said.
The driver traveled a direct line on Route 28 from Windham and believes the case was lost somewhere between Windham and the Target Store in Salem, Patten said.
Officers searched the area but did not find the weapons, Patten said.
The item is described at a locked, hardened-plastic case, possibly a Plano brand. It contained for handguns, a Baretta 92 FS black .9mm with a magazine, an S&W 1911 stainless .45 ACP with a magazine, a Sig Sauer Mosquito .22 caliber with magazine, and a S&W BodyGuard .38 Special revolver.
Anyone who comes across the weapons is asked to contact Salem police.
