Man suffers grave injuries in Washington crash
WASHINGTON - A man was taken to Concord Hospital Wednesday with potentially life-threatening head injuries he sustained in single car crash on Route 31.
Justin Meaney, 29, of Washington was either ejected from the 1997 Jeep Cherokee or able to get out of the wreckage before emergency responders arrived, police said.
Washington police, fire and rescue departments along with Hillsboro police went to Route 31, also known as South Main Street, just after midnight Wednesday when the crash was reported.
A 1997 Jeep Cherokee, operated by Meaney, had veered off the road, hit a large rock and went airborne for 45 feet until it crashed 18 feet below the road in a gully, according to a press release.
Meaney was alone in the car. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but initial findings indicate alcohol may be a factor, police said.
