Police investigate pedestrian accident in Bedford
BEDFORD - A man suffered serious injuries Wednesday night when he was struck by a pickup truck on Route 101, near Elk Drive.
Scott Shipley, 52, of Bedford, was struck just after 7 p.m. while crossing and/or walking along Route 101 west from the Bedford Irving West gas station, according to a police press release.
The 2010 Ford F-150 was operated by Robert Cousens, 53, of Merrimack.
Police were called at 7:10 p.m. for a reported accident involving a pedestrian and when officers arrived, they found Shipley lying on the side of the road. He was treated by Bedford rescue and transported to the Elliot Hospital for treatment.
A section of Route 101 was closed while the crash was cleared and the Bedford Police Department's Accident Reconstruction Team investigated.
The circumstances surrounding the accident are still under investigation, however, police said both speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.
