Susan Tedeschi Susan Tedeschi will return to the Lebanon Opera House Sunday, Nov. 8, for a 7:30 p.m. show that celebrates her soulful voice, distinctive songwriting skills and bluesy guitar playing.

Tedeschi’s most recent album, 2008’s “Back to the River,” follows 2005’s “Hope and Desire” and 2002’s “Wait for Me.” She also has also lent her talents to numerous headliners, including The Allman Brothers Band, B.B. King and Bob Dylan.

Born in Boston, Tedeschi immersed herself in both Gospel music and traditional blues, and later attended the Berklee College of Music, where she sang in a gospel choir and formed her first group, the Smokin’ Section. After graduating, she entered the Boston blues scene.

In 1994, she formed the Susan Tedeschi Band, featuring Tom Hambridge and Adrienne Hayes. In 1995 the band released its debut, “Better Days,” to regional audiences and soon after was signed to the indie label Tone-Cool Records, which released one of Tedeschi’s most popular albums,” Just Won’t Burn,” in 1997. A grassroots success story, the CD reached gold status in 2000, rare for a blues album. That same year Tedeschi received a Grammy nomination for best new artist alongside such unlikely company as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Macy Gray and Kid Rock.

Tedeschi also was featured in the all-woman traveling festival Lilith Fair, organized by Sarah McLachlan, and opened and performed with legendary artists such as John Mellencamp, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, The Allman Brothers Band, Taj Mahal and Bob Dylan.

Tedeschi has been married since 2001 to fellow musician Derek Trucks, with whom she performs under the name Soul Stew Revival.
