Opera North to host afternoon talk seriesJanuary 31. 2018 1:16PM
LEBANON — Opera North will present “Always ON Sunday,” a series of four afternoons that will provide insights into the history and production of operas.
The events take place at various locations around the Upper Valley, starting at 2 p.m.:
• Feb. 4: “Dressing the Stars” — Opera North’s office, Lebanon.
Costume designer Jack Maisenbach will discuss concept, design, fabric and construction. His work appeared in “Tosca” (2016), “La Belle Helene” and “Madama Butterfly” (2017).
• Feb. 11: “‘Tales of Hoffmann,’ an Enigmatic Masterpiece” — Coldwell Banker, Hanover.
Opera North Artistic Director Louis Burkot and noted dramaturge Peter Webster will have a conversation about Offenbach’s “opera fantastique.”
• Feb. 25: “A Musical Salon” — at the home of Rita and Bill Post, Woodstock.
An afternoon of vocal music featuring a recital with mezzo soprano Cara Collins, a 2017 Opera North resident artist who returns in 2018.
• March 4: “Coach’s Corner” — at the home of Louis Burkot and Maria Laskaris, Hanover.
Take a journey into how vocal technique and interpretative skill bring arias to life. Listen and watch as Artistic Director Louis Burkot coaches a young singer.
