HENNIKER - A man and woman from Connecticut were seriously injured when an ATV rolled after a sudden turn on a trail, the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department said Sunday.

Troy Anderson, 44, was driving on Liberty Hill Road around 7:15 Saturday when he and passenger Tracy Laurinitis, 43, were thrown from the ATV as Anderson swerved to avoid a rock in the middle of the trail. According to a release from Fish and Game, Anderson and Laurinitis were riding with a group of friends down a hill on the trail when Anderson lost control of the ATV, causing it to roll.

Conservation officers said Anderson and Laurinitis were not wearing helmets and both were taken to the hospital to be treated for head lacerations.

Fish and Game said the injuries were serious but not life threatening.
