Distracted driving led to Concord I-93 crash, police say

CONCORD - State police say distracted driving caused a crash that sent one vehicle over the guardrail on Interstate 93 in Concord early Tuesday morning.

The accident happened about 6:40 a.m. when a 2008 Honda Accord driven by William Swanson, 26, of Manchester, changed lanes and struck a 2004 Ford pickup driven by Seth Danko, 36, of Boscawen, according to police.

Swanson's inattention/distraction is believed to have been the primary factor in the crash, according to police, who said he told investigators he took his eyes off the road for a moment prior to the collision.

Danko's pickup rolled over the guardrail and down into an embankment where it struck a tree. Danko suffered minor injuries and was transported to Concord Hospital for evaluation. Swanson was not injured, police said.

One lane of travel was closed for approximately two hours while state police, Concord fire and wrecker crews cleared the scene.

Any witnesses to the accident are encouraged to contact Trooper Charles George at 271-3636.
