Queen City high school sports fans will have to find something else to do Friday.

On Thursday, Manchester Public Schools athletic director Christopher Donovan announced all scheduled games and practices for Friday have been postponed because of the snowstorm. Donovan said the decision was made by Manchester Supt. Dr. Debra Livingston.

“From the school side, we’re always thinking about the safety of the kids,” said Donovan. “We felt it was in the best interest of the kids and the people traveling to the games to cancel everything. It also gives the city another day to plow the snow off the streets and parking lots near the schools.”

Donovan said Friday’s scheduled games will be rescheduled at a later date. He also said Friday’s scheduled swim meet at Southern New Hampshire University has been postponed.

Trinity athletic director Chip Polak said his school has postponed Friday’s scheduled girls’ and boys’ basketball games against Exeter. Those games have been reset for Saturday. The Trinity girls will host Exeter at 1 p.m. for the JV game followed by the 2:30 p.m. varsity game. Polak said the boys’ varsity game at Exeter will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday’s ice hockey contest between host Bishop Guertin and Trinity was postponed and that game will be rescheduled at a later date.

On Saturday, all four Manchester ice hockey teams will resume regular season action. Manchester West will host Berlin at 4:30 p.m. at JFK Coliseum and Manchester Memorial will host Concord at 6:30 p.m. at West Side Arena. Trinity will host Nashua South at St. Anselm College at 7 p.m. and Manchester Central travels to Exeter for an 8:30 p.m. game.

Around the state, Thursday’s ice hockey game between Hanover and Concord was postponed and has been rescheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 17 at Everett Arena.Campbell of Litchfield has postponed Friday’s girls’ and boys’ basketball games against Mascenic of New Ipswich. Those games will be rescheduled at a later date.

In Amherst, all Souhegan athletic events scheduled for today are postponed because of the snowstorm. The only games that have been rescheduled are the basketball games with Lebanon. They will be made up on Jan. 13 when the Souhegan boys host the Raiders and the girls travel to Lebanon. The varsity games at both sites begin at 6:30 p.m.
