LINCOLN — A stretch of Interstate 93 North near Exit 33 is expected to be closed until late morning Thursday after an early morning crash involving a tractor-trailer unit.
About 5 a.m. Thursday, a 2007 International truck and 28-foot trailer operated by Scotty Grandmaison, 37, of Allenstown, drifted into the high-speed lane before striking and damaging about 60 feet of guardrail.
The tractor-trailer, owned by Performance Transportation LLC of Augusta, Maine, then traveled over an embankment and into the median before coming to rest in a stream.
State police said Grandmaison, who was not injured, fell asleep at the wheel.
Road and weather conditions were clear, dry and cold and were not contributing factors, state police said.
Investigators expect the passing lane will be closed in the area of the crash until late morning to allow for the removal of the tractor-trailer unit.
