MANCHESTER — Police believe a trailer fire at a construction site Sunday night is a case of arson.

Fire crews were called to 195 McGregor St. around 6:20 p.m. Sunday evening to investigate a fire at a utility trailer located at a fenced-in construction site across from Catholic Medical Center. After extinguishing the small blaze, they reported finding at least one gas tank at the site and called in police.

“Evidence has been recovered at the scene that leads us to believe at this time that the fire is a case of arson,” said Manchester police Sgt. Chris Biron. “The circumstances around it are suspicious.”

Biron said while officers were investigating the scene Sunday night, they noticed a building at 195 McGregor St. that is under renovation had been entered.

“There was some damage done to the interior of the building,” said Biron. “We found some graffiti. We’re trying to determine whether or not the graffiti is related to the fire in some way.”

Biron said arson investigators from the Manchester fire department were on scene Sunday night, and expected back at the site again today.

No further information on the exact cause of the trailer fire was available Sunday night.
