PITTSBURG - A Goffstown man was struck by bird shot while hunting with his friend in a densely wooded area of Pittsburg Wednesday.
Patrick Sullivan, 34, was in the woods off East Inlet Road with Adam Gilman, 36, of Hopkinton, hunting for grouse when Gilman's gun discharged and struck Sullivan in the lower extremities, according to a release from Conservation Officer Adam Cheney of N.H. Fish and Game. Gilman drove Sullivan to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook, where he was treated for approximately 70 puncture wounds.
Fish and Game officers met with the men and are investigating the incident. The release indicated that neither Gilman nor Sullivan were wearing hunter orange.
