BEDFORD - The Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire has announced that its ninth annual Evening of Compassion earlier this month at LaBelle Winery raised more than $100,000 to support homeless animals.
This is one of the ARLNH's most significant fundraisers, which highlights key accomplishments of the work performed by the ARLNH and provides an opportunity for the community to rally around its mission. Last year, more than $98,000 was raised which helped serve 65 communities and over 2,400 animals that might not otherwise have had a second chance.
The evening kicked off with a cocktail reception followed by a wine tasting dinner at 6:30pm. After dinner, guests were treated to a special song written exclusively for the ARLNH entitled, "Who Rescued Who?" by Rockspring, a five-piece string band out of Massachusetts with special musical guest, Alli Beaudry.
The night continued with a video highlighting the stories of Nala and Mesa. Nala, the cat, had been abandoned in a ditch and brought to the ARLNH in extremely bad shape. After treatment she was adopted by a young Nashua woman looking for a companion. Mesa, a six month-old Cane Corso dog, came to the ARLNH severely underweight and neglected. Her owner agreed to surrender her to evade criminal charges. After weeks of rehabilitation Mesa was adopted by her foster family and finally has a chance at the life she deserves.
The evening concluded with a delicious dessert bar and a "meet and greet" with special guests, Nala and Mesa.
"We continue to hear that this year's EoC was the best ever!" said Paula Mattis, President and CEO of the ARLNH. "We worked to make the event fun and informative. And we raised more money than we did last year making EOC 2013 the most successful one to date. We thank our supporters--sponsors, volunteers, friends and staff for making this happen and we look forward to seeing everyone next year."
