Peacock Players hit Westerburg High in ‘Heathers’August 09. 2017 1:55PM
NASHUA — Peacock Players & Company will present the new comedy “Heathers: The Musical” for two weekends in August at the Janice B. Streeter Theater, 14 Court St.
Based on the cult classic 1989 film, Westerberg High is ruled by a shoulder-padded, scrunchie-wearing junta: Heather, Heather and Heather, the hottest and cruelest girls in all of Ohio.
But misfit Veronica Sawyer rejects their evil regime for a new boyfriend, the dark stranger J.D. — who plans to put the Heathers in their place.
Brought to you by the award-winning creative team of Kevin Murphy (“Reefer Madness,” “Desperate Housewives”), Laurence O’Keefe (“Bat Boy,” “Legally Blonde”) and Andy Fickman (“Reefer Madness,” “She’s the Man”), “Heathers: The Musical” is deliciously dark, with a moving love story, laugh-out-loud comedy and an unflinching look at the joys and anguish of high school.
Peacock Players was the recent recipient of 10 awards at the 2017 New Hampshire Theatre Awards ceremony held at the Capital Center for the Arts in Concord earlier this year.
“Heathers: The Musical” is rated R due to mature language and content, sexual themes and violence.
This show will mark the final production of Peacock Players’ 41st annual mainstage season.
Performances are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, 7 p.m., and Sunday, 2 p.m., and Aug. 17-19, 7 p.m., and Aug. 20, 2 p.m.
