July 23. 2018 1:05AM

HOOKSETT - The State Police bomb squad was called in Sunday night when a Hooksett business owner reported he heard a ticking noise inside a trash can.

According to Hooksett Police, the call about the suspicious item at 11 Kimball Dr. (Riverside Park) came in around 8:10 p.m.

Officers were able to hear the same ticking inside the trash can that the business owner reported. They examined the trash can and found a black box with a wire protruding from it inside.

The New Hampshire State Police Explosives Unit was then called and safely removed the item. Upon closer inspection, the item was found to be an electronic security tag that had the wire on it cut. Police said it was not dangerous and it was removed.

Anyone with any information on this incident is asked to please contact the Hooksett Police Department at (603) 624-1560.
