Ashland police officer victim of hit-and-run

ASHLAND — An Ashland police officer was the victim of a hit-and-run following a traffic stop Friday night.

When the officer had pulled over the vehicle and approached the vehicle on foot, the driver struck the officer before speeding off.

Police officials said the officer only received minor injuries and that the police pursuit of the driver continued from Ashland into Bridgewater.

The chased vehicle hit another car head-on along Route 3 and flipped over.

The driver of the chased car suffered serious injuries and now faces several charges, police officials said.

Ashland police have yet to reveal the identity of the driver and the officer who was injured.

The driver of the car that was hit was not seriously hurt, officials added.
